Episode Highlights:
In this video, 360ed.tv chats with Barnaby Fox, a learning development professional and content creator from Pako Creative, who shares his passion for constructing learning ecosystems, environments and spaces.
Informed by a 15-year career in learning development and with a diverse background in fields such as manufacturing, filmmaking and retail, Barnaby brings a multifaceted perspective to his learning projects and observes a welcome transformation in the L&D industry over the years that is benefitting learners and organisations.
Barnaby advocates for viewing learning ecosystems as more than just the technology platforms that support them, and refocusing on the communication and collaboration aspects behind the ecosystem. Without that consultation, he argues, organisations run the risk of introducing a redundant or untapped technology that is not fit for purpose and does little to address core needs.
On the importance of bringing people along the journey, Barnaby looks at stakeholder touchpoints and how they can be plugged into the ecosystem to align deliverables to learning objectives. He also
canvasses learning theories and frameworks to shape mutual understanding, and how to navigate the learning ecosystem proposition with respect to content creation and skill outcomes.
In progressing from learner engagement to an organisation’s end goals, Barnaby critiques traditional, top-down mindsets and calls for mechanisms that incentivise learners to see the value beyond compliance. Finally, he shares his advice for approaching mindfulness and stress management, including recognising the signs of burnout, prioritising work-life balance and practising self-forgiveness.
What factors contribute to an effective learning environment and how can organisations set the tone for learner success? Watch the video to learn more.
